When using multiple Horizon devices in a daisy-chained or cascaded setup, the device order in Horizon Control and the physical BNC word clock connections must match.
Set the primary device first
The device you want to monitor from must be set as the primary device. In the Day 1 build of Horizon Control, devices cannot be dragged into a different primary position in the device list.
When adding devices, add the device you want to use as the primary device first in the Add Device section, then add any secondary devices.
Connect BNC word clock
Daisy-chained Horizon devices must also be connected via BNC word clock to maintain reliable clocking. Thunderbolt carries audio, data and control between devices, but it does not carry word clock.
Make sure the Word Clock Out of the primary device is connected to the Word Clock In of the next device, with the BNC connections following the same order as the devices in Horizon Control.
If a yellow clock status appears next to a device in the device list, check that the BNC cables are connected securely and that the word clock routing matches the current device order.
If you change the device order
If the primary device or device order changes, the physical BNC word clock connections must be repatched to match.
For example, if Device A is primary and its Word Clock Out is connected to Device B's Word Clock In, but Device B is later made primary, the BNC connection should be changed so that Device B's Word Clock Out feeds Device A's Word Clock In.
It is recommended that the last device in your cascaded system has Word clock termination enabled.
Quick checklist
- Primary monitoring device added first in Add Device
- BNC word clock connected between cascaded devices
- Word Clock Out > Word Clock In follows the device order
- No yellow clock status shown in the device list
- BNC routing updated if the primary device or device order changes
