On rare occasions, Windows users may experience an issue where their iD44 would drop out after being unused for an extended period of time, or after the computer wakes up from sleep. This is normally caused by the Power Management settings of the Windows operating system.
To prevent this from happening, we recommend making the following changes to your Windows settings. They will stop the computer from turning off bus-powered devices plugged into USB ports to save power, which could cause connectivity issues with your audio hardware.
- Open Control Panel and click on Device Manager
- Open the Universal Serial Bus Controllers menu
- Right-click on one of the USB options that come up and click Properties
- Navigate to the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
- Repeat for all other USBs that are in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers menu
The Scroll Control feature of the iD44 will make the interface appear under the Human Interface Devices tab in Device Manager as well. We, therefore, recommend making the same change for the USB Input Device which corresponds to the iD44 under the Human Interface Devices menu.
If you have multiple USB Input Devices, open the properties on each of them to check the Location descriptor. The one corresponding to the iD44 will have "Audient iD44" as its Location. Once found, go to the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
These changes should prevent Windows from dropping the connection with the iD44, otherwise, please try connecting the iD44 into different USB ports on your computer and with a different USB cable.
